Abstract

Of 82 cities monitoring national CPI, 76 cities experienced inflation and 6 cities experienced deflation. The highest inflation occurred in Manado (3.60 percent) and the highest deflation occurred in Tanjung Pandan (0.41 percent). Palangka Raya and Sampit were ranked 68th and 64th city of the highest inflation at the national level.
  • Inflation in Palangka Raya (0.12 percent) was influenced by increases in the foodstuffs group price index (1.11 percent) and clothing (0.66 percent).
  • Inflation in Sampit (0.16 percent) was influenced by an increase in the housing, water, electricity, gas and fuel price index (0.93 percent) and transportation, communication and financial services (0.67 percent)
  • Based on two reference cities (Palangka Raya and Sampit), Kalimantan Tengah Province experienced inflation (0.14 percent), followed by the inflation rate of the calendar year (1.51 percent) and year-on-year inflation (2.89 percent) which was quite low.
  • The core component and volatile foods synergize in triggering inflation in Palangka Raya. Whereas in Sampit it is relatively more stable with volatile prices.
