UPDATING DATA OF VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT 2020

UPDATING DATA OF VILLAGE DEVELOPMENT 2020

June 9, 2020 | BPS Activities

Village Potential Data Collection (Podes) is a data collection on the availability of infrastructure and potential that is owned by each administrative area at the village / kelurahan, sub-district, and district / city levels throughout Indonesia. Podes data collection precedes Census activities carried out by BPS. The last Podes data collection was in 2018, which was 2 years before the 2020 Population Census. Various data and information were collected, including: availability of infrastructure (education, health, economic, and social), the situation of community security, social and economic activities, to disaster data. Podes Data is an instrument used to support village development, as mandated by Law No. 6 of 2014 concerning Villages. In the perspective of a higher government (district / city, province, and central), Podes data aggregate is one component for rolling out a variety of policies, such as village funds. While at the village level, documentation of Podes data can be a reference for development priorities to be undertaken.

The purpose of Updating Village Development Data is to produce data for regional development needs, provide data on regional potential, availability of infrastructure / facilities, and socio-economic conditions in each village / kelurahan. While the specific objectives of the Village Development Data Update are:

1.      Provide basic data to calculate the Geographic Difficulties Index (IKG) which will later be used as one of the variables in the allocation of Village Funds (DD).

2.      Providing basic data to calculate the Village Development Index (IPD). The IPD is a measure developed to assess the level of progress or development of the village. The preparation of this IPD was carried out with a view to making IPD as: (1) a tool / instrument that provides information for village development actors at the central, regional, and village levels so that they can make appropriate policy interventions as an effort to leverage their village development; (2) a tool for monitoring and evaluating the performance of village development in the context of achieving the RPJMN targets / targets

3.      Provides basic data to calculate the Village Build Index (IDM). IDM classifies villages in five (5) statuses, namely: (i) Very Underdeveloped Villages; (ii) Underdeveloped Villages; (iii) Developing Villages; (iv) Maju Village; and (v) Desa Mandiri. The classification in the 5 Village statuses is also to sharpen the determination of the status of the village's development and at the same time the recommendations of the necessary policy interventions.

4.      Providing data for various purposes related to regional planning at the national and regional levels.

5.      Provide data on the existence and development potential of the village / kelurahan which includes: basic services, infrastructure conditions, and accessibility / transportation.

6.      Providing data for Urban / Rural calculations.

In years where Podes were not implemented, Updating Podes was carried out as in 2019 and 2020. The data and information are used to monitor the extent of village progress and development each year. The field implementation of Updating Podes 2020 was carried out simultaneously starting in June 2020 and there was no infrastructure geotagging like Podes 2018. Data collection would use an Android-based CAPI application, while checking and monitoring using an online web application.

In Updating Podes 2020 there was no staff training, but the Central BPS has prepared E-Learning. Fieldwork in North Barito Regency will begin on June 15, 2020 until July 17, 2020 while continuing to pay attention to health protocols in accordance with the appeal of the Covid-19 Task Force. There were 22 officers for Updating Podes 2020 consisting of 16 employees from BPS of North Barito Regency and 6 people from Statistics Partners.
